I am a Professor of Mathematics, and presently Chair of the Department of Mathematics, at Bryn Mawr College, where I hold the William Kenan, Jr Chair. My area of mathematical research is chaotic dynamical systems.
I work to support K-16 STEM educators and prospective STEM educators in the region and am the Founding Director of the Philadelphia Regional Institute for STEM Educators (PRISE) based at Saint Joseph’s University.
As a faculty member at Bryn Mawr, I enjoy working in a variety of areas including:
- connecting math and science education with issues of sustainability and climate change which includes having my students carry out sustainability projects in partnership with community organizations.
- sharing the beauty and excitement of mathematics with general audiences
- teaching a variety of courses and supervising student research
