Family Backyard

The Zhao sisters, eager to celebrate the festive spirit of Christmas, transformed their backyard into a winter “wonderland”. When the rest of their families were away, they built a snowman, brought back a tree from Trader Joe’s with a twinkling star accompanied by red ornaments, and arranged a collection of wrapped presents to surprise their friends and family.

We chose this project in celebration of this winter holiday season. In this project, we incorporated many multivariable calculus concepts to create our figures. For example, when we constructed the snowman we used a combination of spheres, cylinders, and cones. For our Christmas tree, we used cones of different sizes and layered them together. For our presents, we constructed many cuboids.
