Modeling Chairs Using Multivariable Calculus

At the beginning of the semester, Ellie and I were putting random equations into a 3D grapher, and we made one shape that we thought looked like it would be comfortable to sit in! This inspired us to make chairs for our project! We decided to do a combination of both chairs around campus (like the Erdman dining hall and Adirondack chairs), as well as random chairs that we discovered by experimenting with equations. For the chairs around campus, we used reference photos to help us, but for the other chairs, we just experimented until we thought it looked comfortable!
